Recently faced a synced RTL group in RA. One ele jumped early for whatever reason and exploded to our frontline. Halfway through next two members sigs the fourth finished throwing up frozen soil.
I have both seen and tried most of the joke/semi joke monk suggestions posted so far. Dshot is by far my favorite variant, frequenting my monk bar far more than it should.

Sad thing is my friend makes glads off of it.

This games been out for over 4 years.. why are there so many noobs till in RA? I mean cmon, no rez, dont attack the healer, run around when your whole team is dead ect ect ect. I mean where are they coming from? By the numbers of newbies in RA you would think people are buying GW for the first time in droves.
Sry bout the rant just got so frustrated the last couple of days in RA.

A lot of people just don't take the time to learn. When there's other bad people in RA they can beat those people and still get glads. Or just rely on their teammates like most do...

Now I have to say, it's people who take it too seriously.
Also the sin who called my knockdown warrior cheap.

I love the completely awful melee you find in the American districts who expect you to stand still and let them mash on you. I frequently get raged at in all chat by them for kiting from them. The word 'noob' inevitably gets flung around a lot also.

The typical RA warrior in some districts (note what the other team's monk is saying in local chat).
I noticed that 70% of the ritualists are terrible: in the best case they are trying to heal, otherwise they force you to camp in their useless spirits, or in the worst case are using a Spirit Strenght build >.<'
Same thing with Illusionary weaponry mesmers.

Everytime I pop into american dist RA I see something really really retarded, it's probably more interesting to make a thread about good things we see in RA, since that's infinitely more rare. If i had to pick THE stupidest thing that you see in RA, it must be when people don't report afkers. Even worse, when people say just resign when there's an afker on your team. I mean, wtf, you expect an afker to resign with you?

spirit campers are poo, really, the first team with half a brain smokes them. Channel/resto hybrids are more or less decent, but since there's no coordination stuff like Ancestor's or Warmongers weapon is wasted in most groups.
Ritualists are poo imho (in a random team that is)
I thought IW mesmers were extinct

My excuse is that for the last year and a half I've been playing PvE. Even HM UW trapping isn't that difficult anymore, so I'm looking for something challenging and have decided to learn PvP. Maybe other PvE players are as well? Also it could be some simply don't get it and never will. There are, sadly, many clueless people populating this world.
So, I'm not exactly a noob, I'm an experienced player trying something different. And yes, I do bring a hard rez (I switch to a r/mo build for PvP) and I've played AB enough to know not to rely on a monk and know how to keep myself alive while helping my team members.
So truthfully, I think it's PvE players trying PvP out and some players are willing to truly learn that part of the game and some think they can pull the same crap they do with NPCs on non-NPCs. Know what I mean?

Yes, as much as I always liked backlining as both Monk and Ritualist in RAs, I feel the Ritualist is less and less viable... with increasing buffs of offense and certain Elite skills (specially Hexes) brought back into play.
First, if you want to have any kind of viable Hex removal, you are forced into Rt/Mo or Rt/Me.
Rt/Mo is just too fragile, some kind of non-spell defense is a must against ganks (= use stances). Blind Mingson is about the only option, but it's a spell, so if you get Dazed, badly hexstacked or your ass KD'd on the ground, you can kiss it goodbye - you absolutely must precast it flawlessly and holding ashes all the time means no Shield, no fast cast.
Rt/Me can take Distortion as stance, but due to the new update/nerf to Weapon Spells, you are forced to spec into Spawning Power and Resto, leaving no room for Channeling because you specced some Illusion Magic (e-management becomes difficult).
I've had some success as Rt/W (stances, shield bash), Rt/A (shadowstep, dark escape), Rt/E (Swiftness+Attuned Songkai), etc, but having no Hex removal can be very crippling.
Restoration Magic has overall slower casting times than Healing/Prot Prayers, face a Frustration/Migraine/BHA and you'll have even more issues than a Monk does. Many spells or builds depend on holding a bundle which stops you from using a 40/40 set to speed castings up. Others make you depend on Spirits, which any smart team will simply go after and kill.
Another major strength Monks have is Guardian. The 5 Energy block goes a long way compared to Rt's 10 energy Weapon of Warding. Blocking is huge damage mitigation and paying the double for it as a Rit eventually makes your team crumble before the opposing Monk's team.
Nowadays I'd say a Rit as a pure healer isn't as viable as before, not when compared to a Monk, so I've been playing mine mostly as a hybrid Channeling/Resto, supporting both offense and defense (hoping for a Monk as I usually don't pack enough heals to hold a team up).

E/Rt prism healers are pretty gud, but they got no good removals, so hexes blow them up. Sometimes I see ppl run it when they practice for HA or something.

There was far too much stupidity the last couple days because of the Zaishen quest, had so many melee elementalists, and even a sin who spamming guardian and orison who called me a " noob monk who can't kill and heal at the same time"
But kitng a headbutt/plague touch warrior (grey) around while my team beat on their dolyak signet/defy tank (pink) lead to this.
He eventually gave up and helped his tank buddy out to beat on the ranger.

Honestly I'd say the dumbest thing I see in RA is how touch ranger's can screw up their build.
Running stupid shit like life siphon, vampiric gaze, ect. and thus totally negating the purpose of being a ranger in the first place to use expertise and eliminate the cost of Vtouch. I mean come the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO on how in the hell do you manage to fail at the TOUCH RANGER build?! the build was effing designed to be as no-skill-required and idiot proof as you can possibly get and yet some people are so bad at the game that they still somehow manage to screw up what you would think is the unscrewupable. LOLWUT
Ah well, at least they are free faction.

Vamp gaze is actually good on a toucher. Its used very rarely, but can make that finishing blow when a target starts kiting.
